Water damage restoration for wood floors can be achieved, with the proper conditions, depending on the type of wood floor and how long it was wet. Having the right type of equipment is critical in order to mitigate damage done by the expansion of the wood.

Water Damage Restoration for Wood Floors – Parquet

The photos below were taken by United in the process of drying out a wood floor.  In this scenario, the floor was parquet.  It was extremely porous and easy to pull the moisture from it.   The conditions could not have been better, as we had good containment, control of the effected area and were able to keep grains of moisture very low.  We could control the temperature and had the proper amount of dehumidification for the cubic footage as well as the class of damage.

In these photos, you’ll notice the areas covered in plastic, and marked off by blue tape.  We identified sections where substantial pools of water existed.  These were essentially sealed with plastic, allowing us to get a maximum amount of suction to remove the water from the floor.

In this example, there was no lingering damage done to the wood.  Our ability to quickly respond to the crisis offered the customer a cost-effective solution to deal with the problem.  Had this gone unnoticed for days or a week, it would have been likely that major sections of the floor buckled requiring a major repair, or potential replacement.

Water Damage Restoration for Wood Floors – Kitchen

The pictures below illustrate another example of United drying out a wood floor in a kitchen. This time, you can see the plastic installed to contain and isolate the affected area. Isolating the area speeds the drying process and less dehumidification is required than would be needed if the entire area was exposed. There is also a temperature increase in this area, as it takes an increased amount of energy to dry wet materials.
